Hey, hey, hey!
How are things???!!!
You know, you guys know me, and you know that I’m an optimist. So sue me.
Well, actually…don’t, because that would be bad. Of course, something good could come of it, so… hahaha.
On second thought… just don’t sue me.
But I also hope that you know that if I’m upset with something, or if I have an issue with how something was done, that I’m not afraid to say it. Having said that, I wanted to take a minute or two and kind of combat some of the negativity surrounding the season five finale. I’ll give my complete thoughts when I officially review that ep here on the site, and the ep wasn’t perfect. Season Five as a whole wasn’t perfect, but I still think there are some parts to celebrate.
Let me also quickly say that this site is still and will always be spoiler free. Also, this post is intended to be a celebration of season five and is not really a place for negativity. There are plenty of other forums out there where those kinds of expressions are encouraged. I’m not going to delete anyone’s comments or anything…I’m just saying…the point of this post is to talk about what we LIKED about season five, and that is all.
I thought long and hard and polled a few BONES pals, Lauren, Mary, Steph and my sister Elizabeth for 100 ways season five of BONES did not suck. Here’s what we came up with. Feel free to chime in with more in the comments. Please do NOT talk about any season six speculation.
I still plan to re-watch and add reviews for the rest of season five, and like I mentioned in the 100th review, I’ll do those in the few days leading up to the season six premiere.
Here we go, in no particular order:
- Cyndi Lauper’s Fearless. A fantastic song about B&B.
- Caroline took Booth under her wing more than ever, and she defends the squints in trial!
- Angela and Hodgins got married.
- Cam and Dr. Paul! “You look beautiful embarrassed.”

- Sweets putting that mock-piano together from the rocks.
- “Bones, I would do anything for you. I would die for you; I would kill for you.”

- Pops inviting Brennan for grilled cheese and dominoes to learn how to kick Booth’s ass.

- Brennan’s “I prefer good boys.”
- B&B kiss in the rain.

- Zooey Deschanel
- This amazingness.

- “Never mess with Prince.”
- Brennan dreaming about Booth in danger.
- Brennan ADMITTING TO Booth that she dreams about him in danger.
- Brennan hearing that Booth knows the truth of her, and he’s dazzled by that truth.

- Hodgins lifting weights in the lab! And Angela sees the tattoo!!!
- Booth bringing Brennan some pizza, to make sure she’s eaten.

- Booth and Max punch each other in the face.
- Sweets attends Brennan’s Christmas dinner, “For Agent Booth”.

- Cam is the one who first mentioned Brennan to Booth.
- We see the first moment Booth ever saw Brennan. EVER!
- The slow dance to Seal.
- Booth telling Sweets he’s better off without Daisy.
- This conversation:
“I need to ask you some things.”
“Are you going to ask me about God and the devil?”
“Yes.”
“You’re going to ask me how God can place such a burden on good people.”
“No, I’m going to ask you how you still believe in a kind God after a case like this.”
“Is my faith shaken? Yeah, it is.”
“It is?”
“Yeah, I’ll go home tonight, and I’ll lie in bed; I’ll toss and I’ll turn, and I’ll beat myself up. I’ll question everything.”
“Will you get your faith back?”
“Always have in the past.”
“So, you have faith that you will retain your faith….why?”
“Because, Bones…the sun’ll come up. Tomorrow’s a new day.”
“I know that feeling.”
“Really?”
“Mmhmmm…”
“You know what it feels like to get your faith back?”
“When I see effects, and I’m unable to discern the cause, my faith in reason and consequences is shaken.”
“Then what happens?”
“Two + Two = Four. I put sugar in my coffee and it tastes sweet. The sun comes up because the world turns. These things are beautiful to me. There are mysteries I will never understand, but everywhere I look, I see proof that for every effect, there is a corresponding cause. Even if I can’t see it. I find that reassuring.”
“ Life is good again.”
“Life is very good.”
“Yes it is.”
What did I miss?

I love this post! Thanks for helping me to relive some of my favorite moments of season 5. I always enjoy getting your take on Bones because I tend to be an optimist too. It’s refreshing to know I’m not the only one who really enjoyed this past season. Can’t wait to get the DVDs!

Season 5 has been my favourite ever. It’s just had so many amazing moments that I’ll never forget! Thanks for this list

I loved the DJ’s speech at the end of Goop on the Girl:
A man died this week. By all accounts, he was a good man. Loved his mother, worked hard, shouldered his responsibilities. He was a man that any one of us would be proud to call a friend. I killed him. With this microphone. I killed him by going on these airwaves and sharing my rage with you…spreading the rage. Now you can say that it…it wasn’t my fault, it was a coincidence…I thought about that. Thought about it alot. The fact is…the fact is, if it weren’t for me, he might still be alive. I’m so sorry for that.
And I remembered something that I forgot over the last few years. That God is not only a God of anger and vengeance. Now, my religious beliefs tell me that Christ did not die in vain. That He died to redeem us all. And I intend to show that this good, simple man also did not die in vain. That he redeemed one angry, shouting man. So, these are the last words I will ever broadcast, and I hope they’re the words you remember best…Peace on Earth.
One of the best moments in the show, ever.

Thank you for posting this list. There really was a lot to like about season 5.
You know I have no idea why, but that fastest draw in the west makes me literally laugh out loud everytime I see it.
I’ll have to go through now and see what additional moments I can come up with. Unfortunately I changes service providers during the season so I only have from episode 99 on saved to my DVR, I can’t rewatch the rest of season right now.

Brennan said shnoz
She called evidence crap
She says its exciting when Booth shoots someone
In ignorance she awaits her own surprise
She played the guitar in a very interesting fashion, a 360 around Booth
She called Booth a hero
She doesn’t like hacker like she likes Booth
She tells Booth he is handsome
I could go on and on

Thanks so much for doing this Seels! So many people were disappointed by how things ended this season, but there were many positive things that happened, I refuse to let the finale overshadow all of the good stuff, you know? I know you know since you share your thoughts on good stuff above.
There are so many other moments that I loved which for some reason I’m drawing a blank on. I’ll try to come back and add some like the others did.
Overall I really did enjoy this season immensely and I’m looking forward to what comes next!

Oh, wow these were amazing. I think you got most of the ones I sent you, but one more just for fun:
-”Look me in the eyes and tell that you don’t feel a thing-” best lyrics ever at the end of Gamer in the Grease
May 30, 2010 at 10:06 am
One of my personal faves: Dwarf in the Dirt… Booth hits nothing but bullseyes in Brennan’s presence… and the LOOK they exchange! I think it was the song that really did it for me. “Who can you trust in this place? In whom can I put my faith.” Not to mention GG calling Booth on building a life around Brennan, and the whole amuse bouche scene. WOW.
June 10, 2010 at 1:24 am
Well…dang it a lot of them were named already. Hmmm…
– Hodgins helping himself get over Angela and Wendall by shooting them all in the heads(the bullets in the head experiment)! Good times. And I don’t think it was mentioned yet.
– And honestly I liked when Brennan slapped Booth in the 100th episode. Not because I like watching Booth get slapped, but because by getting offensive by his comment(which set her over the edge) Brennan inadvertently helped Booth peak into her life a little bit and I believe in the future because of that, he wants to help her out with it.
– Brennan and Booth’s “date” in GG’s kitchen. :3
– Booth coming after Brennan in Harbingers in the Fountain.
– Brennan bringing on Booth’s rebellious side meaning in the end his awesome ties, crazy socks and of course his “Cocky” belt buckle.
– The looks between Booth and Mr. Buxley. I was dying over here!! xDD
– Pops telling Brennan when the time was right that she would tell him about what happened between Pops and Booth’s dad and if he needs it, she will hold him(Booth)…I’m looking very very very very forward to that. *crosses fingers*
– Not as big of one, but Brennan sharing/eating Booth’s fries. Just too cute.
And my other top ones have been mentioned so I won’t say them again! But there is one I don’t understand and that’s #90 on the big list:
Why is it a good moment when Jared told Booth to go to Hell?(Remembers getting seriously annoyed and angry when he said that…) That’s the only one I don’t understand, but otherwise yes, I was smiling the whole time I was reading(except at 90…) and I too have been restored in my faith! Now just if my annoying downer of friends who aren’t as optimistic would read this list!
Thanks a lot! ^^

Ack! I forgot my favorit…ist! Or one of them…it’s hard to actually narrow it down when it comes to Bones.
– When they are silently praying in the Goop in the Girl episode and Brennan actually bows her head and closes her eyes and Booth opens one eye to look at her and he smiles…ohyespleaseagain!
September 1, 2010 at 9:12 am
It wasn’t the charaters themselves but that in the last episode of the season, the whole team was at the same airport that you had the first ever scene of “Bones”. Plus, Booth showed up right on time like in the first episode. It really wasn’t that big of a deal, but it felt like a full circle kinda thing for me…
September 19, 2010 at 11:15 pm
I really REALLY want to watch season 5 now. From beginning to end. And season 6. I would really like to watch season six.
Thank you
